No. 7/8 Men’s Basketball Defeats Seton Hill on the Road

Greensburg, Pa.—The No. 7/8 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball team improved to 12-1 and 6-1 in PSAC play with a win Saturday on the road at Seton Hill, 82-76.

How it Happened

For just the second time this season, Mercyhurst trailed at halftime after a difficult half that saw them trailing by as much as nine before clawing their way back to within two.

The Lakers came out of the locker room swinging, with Steve Cannady scoring the team's first 12 points of the half in the first three minutes. A three-pointer from Nicholas Lang at 16:51 gave the Lakers a 10-point lead, and the team needed only to hold onto their lead.

Despite another 10-point Laker lead with 10 minutes left, the Griffins were able to narrow the deficit to just one at 4:02. Seton Hill used fouls to keep the game close, but a key jump ball with 30 seconds left gave the Lakers back possession and the ability to put themselves up by four after free-throws from MiyKah McIntosh.

Another pair from McIntosh in the final seconds brought the final score to 82-76.

Milestone Watch

Saturday's win was No. 450 in the 28-season career of Head Coach Gary Manchel. A vast majority of those wins (320) have come during his tenure at Mercyhurst, which began with the 2003-04 season.

McIntosh's 27 points in Saturday's win gave him 1,055 career points, which is good for No. 14 on the all-time points leaderboard at Mercyhurst.
