Erie, Pa.—The No. 7/8 Men's Basketball team will travel to Greensburg to take on Seton Hill at the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center, with the start time moved up to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Matchup
The Lakers have never lost a game to the men of Seton Hill since the two teams first met in 2013. They last met on Feb. 5, 2020, when the Lakers won 68-39.
Turnover Triumphs
The Lakers' defense has locked down opposing teams this season, thanks in large part to their 12.1 steals per game, which is the fourth-most across Division II. Mercyhurst's opponents have turned the ball over an average of 10.3 more times than the Lakers per game, which is the second-best turnover margin in the country. Building on that, the team has scored an average of 25.8 points off turnovers, or nearly one-third of their 84.4 total points per game.
An Eye on History
With 14 points in the Lakers' win at Gannon on Wednesday, senior MiyKah McIntosh moved into 16th on the list of career points leaders in Mercyhurst history. He is two points shy of the next spot and four points from tying No. 14. McIntosh currently leads the Lakers with an average of 15.2 points per game.
Scouting the Griffins
Seton Hill's lone win in 2021 came against their final opponent of the year when they hosted Shepherd on Dec. 19 and dealt them a 69-59 blow. The Griffins dropped their first game of the new year to Shippensburg, 86-72, on Wednesday, to fall to 1-5 in PSAC play and 1-10 overall. Despite the bad luck, the Griffins have three players averaging in the double digits in Samuel Tabe (13.4 ppg and 12 steals in 11 games), Drew Green (13.2 ppg) and Jimmy Moon (10.4 ppg).
