Niagara University, N.Y.—The Mercyhurst Men's Hockey team could not complete the sweep on Niagara as they fell 1-0 on Saturday night.
How it Happened
The Lakers and Purple Eagles opened the game as if it was an even boxing match. Both teams had sustained pressure at times but could land a big blow. After 20 minutes the game was scoreless as Mercyhurst outshot Niagara 10-6.
The first half of the middle frame was similar to the first as neither team could solve the other. At the 12:47 mark of the middle frame the Purple Eagles struck as Kyle McClellan was beaten by a wrister.
After 40 minutes the shots were 19-15 Niagara and the Lakers were down a goal.
In the third, the Lakers had a late push but could not solve the Niagara netminder. Mercyhurst generated a total of 22 shots.
McClellan made 32 saves in the loss, he has made 30 plus saves in ten games this season.

Battle of Special Teams
Niagara allowed the Lakers to go on the power play just once and the Lakers couldn't mustard a shot. The Purple Eagles generated five shots on their four power plays but did not beat McClellan.
