Erie, Pa.—The No. 11/20 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball team looks to rebound from Saturday's home loss to California (Pa.) as they head south to play Slippery Rock Monday at 7 p.m. The start time was moved up to 7 p.m. after the women's portion of the doubleheader was postponed.
The Matchup
The Lakers and Rock have had a fairly even past, with Slippery Rock holding a slight 29-28 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1971. The teams split their 2019-20 series, with each team picking up a win on the road.
A New Planutis?
Redshirt sophomore Jeff Planutis set a career high in Saturday's loss to Cal, scoring 28 points to pace the Lakers. The total was 10 more points than his previous high-water mark. He shot an incredible 78.6 percent from the floor and made six of eight from beyond the arc.

Scouting The Rock
Slippery Rock comes into Monday's game 10-3 overall and 6-1 in PSAC play, but have not played a game in nine days and has played just two games in the new year. They won their last time out, 70-61, as they hosted Seton Hill on Jan. 15. Frankie Hughes leads the Rock with 17.2 points per game, Jonathan McFall (15.9), Tyler Frederick (13.5) and Amante Britt (12.8) also averaging in the double-digits. Frederick is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.5 rebounds per game as well.
