Trip to Kutztown on Deck for No. 7/9 Men’s Basketball

Erie, Pa.—Looking to rebound from a tough loss, No. 7/9 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball will head on the road to Kutztown for a 3 p.m. matchup Saturday.

The Matchup

In their 10 meetings since 1991, Mercyhurst holds a 7-3 record against the Golden Bears. When the teams last met on Jan. 11, 2020, Mercyhurst won 86-64 on their home court.

On the Hunt

Senior MiyKah McIntosh exploded for 25 points in Wednesday's loss to Indiana (Pa.), leading all scorers. That gave him 1,100 career points and puts him seven points away from tying No. 13 on Mercyhurst's career points leaders. McIntosh is leading the Lakers with 16.9 points per game this season.

Immediate Impact

Freshman Aidan Reichert was second in scoring for the Lakers Wednesday, racking up 15 points. It was the fourth time this season he has scored 15 or more points in a game, and has brought his average up to 9.4 points per game. He also leads the Lakers in field goal percentage, shooting 60.4 percent from the floor this season.

Scouting the Golden Bears

Kutztown enters Saturday 4-8 overall and just 1-5 in PSAC play. The Golden Bears are looking for their first win of 2022 after losing their last four games dating back to Dec. 18. Wesley Butler leads the Golden Bears offensively with 17.5 points per game, and Moe Williams is averaging 12 points and seven rebounds per game.
