Box Score 2 WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst volleyball team scored a pair of wins over Goldey-Beacom and West Chester Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, the Lakers fell behind 2-1 after three, but rallied back with a 25-17 victory in set four and close out the win with a 15-4 final in the decisive fifth set.
Beth Brady notched 11 kills, nine digs and three aces.
Madison Kasper and
Hailey Wilson each tallied nine kills.
Alex Mitchell and Isa McCaffrey split the setting duties dishing out 25 and 18 assists respectively.
In the second match, Mercyhurst claimed a 3-1 victory over host West Chester.
The Lakers took the first set 25-10 in the first before dropping the second 25-21. Mercyhurst took set three 25-23 and closed out the match 25-17 in the fourth.
Brady again led the way picking up 15 kills. Wilson notched 14 kills while
Maggie Thomas recorded 10.
Kasper and Thomas led the defensive effort with four blocks each.
Hannah Vuylsteke picked up 27 digs to lead the Lakers.
McCaffrey tallied a team-high 21 assists and Mitchell chipped in 18 helpers.
The Lakers return to action on Friday when they travel to Walsh University for four matches at the Cavalier Invitational.
