Field Hockey Drops PSAC Opener

The Mercyhurst University Field Hockey team opened up conference play on Sunday afternoon as they welcomed East Stroudsburg University to Saxton Stadium.

East Stroudsburg, who is currently ranked third in the national rankings, defeated the Lakers by a score of 5-0.

The Warriors scored two goals in the first, and then went on to score one goal in each of the remaining three quarters. Celeste Veenstra recorded a hat trick for East Stroudsburg.

Kayla Desormeau made 20 saves in net for Mercyhurst. The 20 saves are a career high for the Freshman Desormeau.

Mercyhurst now turns its attention to Mansfield University in what will be the second time the two teams will play each other this year. Mansfield took the first match up 3-4.
