The Mercyhurst University Volleyball team dropped a four set match to the University of Pitt Johnstown on Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers took a tightly contested first set 25-23. During the first set Mercyhurst recorded 15 kills on a .238 hitting percentage.
Pitt Johnstown would go on to win the next three sets by scores of 21-25, 21-25, and 13-25. Pitt Johnstown improves their PSAC record to 2-0 while Mercyhurst drops to 1-3 in conference play.
Leading the way for Mercyhurst on the offensive end was Madison Kasper. Kasper put down 12 kills throughout the match to pace Mercyhurst. She posted a .129 hitting percentage during the match.
On the defensive side, Anne Borah and Beth Brady each had 3 blocks and Hannah Vuylsteke was credited with a team high 24 digs.
Next week the Lakers will continue PSAC as they host the Golden Eagles of Clarion on Friday Oct. 1 at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. They come back to the MAC the next day to square off with IUP. Game times are set for 7:05 p.m on Friday and 2:05 p.m on Saturday.
