The Mercyhurst Volleyball team dropped a three set match to Slippery Rock Friday evening inside the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Slippery Rock took the first set 25-19, they followed by taking the second set 25-21.
In the third set, "The Rock" stormed out to a commanding 17-11 lead. Then, Alexa Mitchell took to the service line and the Lakers scored six straight points to tie the set score at 17 points a piece. After Mercyhurst's rally, Slippery Rock took back control of the set and won 25-21.
Offensively,
Beth Brady led the way for Mercyhurst. The senior totaled 13 kills during the three set match.
Madison Kasper and
Paige Miller both added 7 blocks a piece.
Claire Kenny paced Mercyhurst in assists tonight, the redshirt senior got her first action of the year and played well throughout the contest.
On defense,
Adeline Benjamin recorded three blocks at the net. Brady led the team in digs with 22. Libero
Hannah Vuylsteke recorded 19 herself.
Tomorrow the Lakers will travel down south to the campus of Pitt-Johnstown to battle it out with the Mountain Cats. First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m.
