Women's Soccer Can't Overcome Early Deficit Against Daemen

Williamsville, N.Y.—The Mercyhurst Women's soccer team fell to Daemen on Saturday by the score of 2-1.

The Wildcats struck first just 18 seconds into the match. Despite the early hole, the Lakers played a very competitive match.

Mercyhurst generated 13 shots while putting seven on goal. The Lakers just couldn't get it past the Daemen goalkeeper.

Maddie Elbro started in net for the Lakers, she made four saves and was perfect after the first minute. Daemen was shutdown by the Laker defense core as they registered five total shots and were held to no corner kicks. The Lakers had eight corner kick opportunities but could not convert.

Emily Mijares tallied four shots, all four on net to lead the Lakers in shots. Sydney Snyder, Taryn Baxter, Amber Thomas, Fern Lazenby, Alyssa Otto, Anna Schult, Chloe Kalina, and Madison Hoover also registered a shot.

The Lakers are back in action this week against Gannon on Wednesday and Slippery Rock on Saturday, both games are on the road.
