Erie, PA—Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Michael Sisti has announced that the Lakers will be adding Kristy Pidgeon as a graduate transfer for the 2021-22 season. Pidgeon played her first four years of college hockey at Clarkson University but was granted an extra year of eligibility due to Covid-19.
Sisti believes Pidgeon will add a lot to the Lakers "We are excited to welcome Kristy to our team for the 2021-2022 season. This last season was difficult on all the players, but we look forward to seeing her play in a Mercyhurst jersey. She will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to join K.K. Thiessen and Alexa Vasko as fifth year seniors."
Pidgeon tallied two goals and three assists last season in 19 games as a senior. In her first three seasons with the Golden Knights she scored 15 goals while adding 17 assists in 113 games. Prior to her time at Clarkson, Pidgeon played three seasons in the PWHL with the Nepean Wildcats where she served as captain in her final season, she scored a team high 41 points with 13 goals and 28 assists in 2016-17.
The 2019 ECAC Champion, 2018 National Champion and three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic team honoree is excited to come to Erie in the fall "I chose to attend Mercyhurst because it has the perfect combination of what I am looking for athletically and academically. The hockey program has a tight-knit culture and a history of success, and the university has a renowned master's program in Applied Intelligence. Mercyhurst will provide me with both an excellent education and a chance to win a championship on the ice. I truly can't wait to be a Laker!"
