NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Mercyhurst women's lacrosse redshirt-junior attacker
Julia Ruscio has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region Second Team as announced by the organization on Thursday morning.
Ruscio, a native of St. Catharines, Ontario, made an immediate impact on the Lakers program in her first season in Erie after transferring from the University of Bridgeport. In her 14 appearances she racked up the second-most points on the team with 36, while leading the Green and Blue in goals (30) and draw controls (59). She also tracked down a dozen ground balls and forced eight turnovers. Ruscio had five games where she scored three or more goals, including a season-high five in the second contest of the year against Walsh (3/14). She did not become a force at the draw circle until the sixth game at home versus Lock Haven winning ten controls, that mark was then eclipsed in the regular season finale as she captured 11 in the Lakers victory over IUP.
