Field Hockey Plays First Competitive Games in Over 500 Days, Under New Head Coach

ERIE, Pa. - For the first time in 511 days, since November 2, 2019 the Mercyhurst field hockey program will take part in live competition against someone other than themselves when they hit the turf for two games this weekend at IUP (Sat) and then home versus Frostburg State (Sun).

Schedule Oulook
In this short and condensed spring season the Lakers will play five games in this part of the calendar, before hopefully having a full and complete 2021 campaign in the fall. There will be two-game sets with both IUP (3/27 - away & 4/11 - home) and Frostburg State (3/28 - home & 4/17 - away).  Their other opponent comes in the form of Slippery Rock University on April 10th.

Media Coverage
Live stats will not be available for home games.  However, there will be live video for all games at Saxon Stadium found on the Mercyhurst Sports Network presented by Stretch Internet.  For road contests, links will be provided in previews if the institution offers them.  Post-game recaps will be available on hurstathletics.com.

Scouting the Lakers
The Lakers will look for bigger offensive contributions from the likes of Jillian Blas, Katie Goodenow and Hayley Skidmore who are the team's returning scoring leaders from the 2019 season.  Defensively, Leah Rogers is back to solidify the backline for the Green and Blue, while the tandem of Gabriella Amico and Libby Jones return between the pipes for the Lakers.  Newcomers, Ava D'Amato, Jenna Cavalieri, Morgan Cole, Haley Hoffman, Madison Kasten, Samantha Myers and Lexi Odrobina will use this valuable time to get acquainted with the pace of the college game.
Mercyhurst will play their first games under new head coach and 2014 Hurst alum Brittney Randolph who took over the program back on September 14, 2020.
