St. Onge Scores His First Goal as a Laker; Men’s Hockey Falls to Canisius

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Canisius Tuesday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.

The Golden Griffins got on the board first when Simon Gravel snapped a quick shot high at the 15:34 mark of the first period.

Rylee St. Onge answered for the Lakers taking a pass from Dante Sheriff and finishing on the breakaway to send the teams into the first intermission tied 1-1.

Gravel scored a goal off the body to put the Griffins up 2-1 at the 7:23 mark of the second, a lead that Canisius would carry into the second break.

Keaton Mastrodonato scored into the empty net with 39 seconds to play.

Kyle McClellan made 36 saves in net for the Lakers and took the loss. Gueorgui Feduolov put six shots on goal while St. Onge finished with five.

The Lakers return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Canisius for a 7 p.m. faceoff at the HaborCenter.
