Men’s Hockey Fills the Net and Tops RIT

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team had five players record multiple points as they defeated visiting RIT 6-2 Saturday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.

Trailing 2-1 in the second, Jonathan Bendorf tied the game with a goal right in front of the net just as the RIT penalty expired.

Noah Kane gave the Lakers their first lead of the night with 11 seconds left in the second when he slapped home a Gueorgui Feduolov rebound on the power play to make it 3-2 at the break.

In the third, Dante Sheriff extended the lead when he took a Carson Briere pass and tucked a shot in five hole on Logan Drackett at the 7:26 mark.

Bendorf added insurance, picking the top corner with 3:21 remaining in the game. Brendan Schneider picked up the empty net goal to set the final.

Kitt got the Lakers on the board finishing into a yawning cage after Schneider snapped the puck out from behind the net.

Josh McDougall finished with three points, all assists. Kitt also added three points on a goal and two helpers. Schneider and Kane each tallied a goal and an assist.

Hank Johnson made 29 saves and picked up the win between the pipes.

The Lakers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Canisius at 7 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
