No. 3 Men’s Basketball Downs Dolphins 74-62 on the Road

Syracuse, NY—The No. 3 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball improved to 8-0 with a 74-62 win at Le Moyne Thursday night.

The Lakers entered the day as one of just 14 undefeated teams in the country and showed why in Thursday's win, leading for most of the way and forcing 22 turnovers.

Nicholas Lang continued his hot start to the season, scoring the team's first four points to give them an early lead. Lang added a pair of made free throws in the game, giving him 23 straight made from the line to start the year, the fourth-most in the country.

Mercyhurst's early lead swelled to seven before the Dolphins began a comeback that saw them tie the game halfway through the first half and take a brief lead, but Mercyhurst answered with an eight-point run to re-take the lead for good. The Lakers finished the half up 37-33.

Mercyhurst utilized their ranged attack more in the second half, growing their lead to as much as 17 points before finishing up 74-62.

Michael Bradley led all players with 22 points, and did so without taking a single shot from beyond the arc. The team only made one three attempt in the first half before collectively shooting 4-for-5 from out wide in the second half.

Cameron Gross finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, and MiyKah McIntosh finished with 12 points to his name. Half of McIntosh's points came from the free-throw line, where he was a perfect 6-for-6 on the night. The Lakers' starting five were 17-for-17 at the line.

While the two team were relatively even underneath their opponents' rims, Mercyhurst turned 12 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points to help keep their advantage.

Mercyhurst will take the weekend off before playing three PSAC games next week on Owen McCormick Court, starting with Mansfield Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. but will follow the women's basketball game.
