Erie, Pa.—The No. 3 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball team improved to 9-0 and 3-0 in PSAC play with a 92-63 win on Owen McCormick Court Tuesday night.
The Lakers rode sharpshooter-accuracy as they made 52.2 percent of their shots from the floor, and nearly matched that average from beyond the arc.
Cameron Gross started the scoring early, and after Mansfield tied it at 2, MiyKah McIntosh gave the Lakers back the lead with a jumper at 19:06. Mercyhurst would not relinquish the lead from there.
From there, Mercyhurst mixed great passing to find open-floor shots and a strong defense that forced 22 turnovers to hold on. Those turnovers led to 33 points, while they allowed just 10 points on their 12 turnovers.
McIntosh led the Lakers with 22 points while making 60 percent of his shots, and going 3-for-6 from three-range. That total gave him 990 career points as he inches toward the 1,000-point milestone.
Four out of five of Mercyhurst's starters scored in the double-digits, with Michael Bradley(12), Gross (12), and Nicholas Lang (11) joining McIntosh. Lang also added eight assists in the win.
Jeff Planutis came off the bench and made an impact in just 17 minutes of play, totaling 12 points with a block and a steal.
