ASHLAND, OH -- The Mercyhurst Wrestling team will be back in action this weekend for a pair of dual matches against Ashland and Davenport Universities inside of Kate's Gymnasium on the campus of Ashland.

Lakers Outlook

This will be the Lakers first pair of dual meets this season. Mercyhurst recently had six Lakers ranked in the latest Super Region 1 rankings, this group is led by Luke McGonigal who is rated top in Super Region 1 at 184. Jacob Robb, Eric Bartos, and Alexis Soriano all have been ranked second in their respective weight classes.

Scouting Ashland

Ashland comes into the weekend with an 0-1 dual meet record. Their defeat came against wrestling powerhouse Lourdes University by a score of 22-19. The Eagles have nine wrestlers ranked regionally including Carson Speelman, and Daniel Beemer who were ranked number one at 149 and 174 respectively in Super Region 3.

Scouting Davenport

Davenport also enters the weekend with a 0-1 dual meet record in the young season. The Panthers fell in their opening contest to Alma College by a score of 24-17. Davenport has three wrestlers ranked in the latest Super Region rankings, Manuel Leija is the highest ranked Panther as he currently sits in the number three spot at 125 in Super Region 3.
