McIntosh Reaches 1,000 Points as No. 3 Lakers Defeat Bloomsburg at Home

Erie, Pa.—Senior MiyKah McIntosh became the 17th player in Mercyhurst history to join the 1,000-point club as the No. 3 Lakers tamed the Huskies 92-68 at home Saturday afternoon.

Mercyhurst was in control of the game from the start, commanding the first four minutes as they scored 11 points without an answer from Bloomsburg. They held onto the ball well and stole it away three times in that early stretch.

From there, Mercyhurst grew their lead to as large as 23 points and ended the half with a 48-28 lead. They shot a characteristically-high 51.4 percent from the floor and were 4-for-10 from three, and benefited from 8-of-9 shooting from the charity stripe.

After finishing the first half one point shy of his milestone, McIntosh crossed the 1,000-point threshold with a mid-range jumper from the right elbow at 13:32 in the second half that made the score 61-36.

Despite Bloomsburg's 40-point surge in the second half as Mercyhurst began to spread out playing time throughout their roster, the Lakers outscored the Huskies by four to finish with a 92-68 win.

By the Numbers

McIntosh finished with 11 points, giving him 1,001 career points and No. 17 all-time at Mercyhurst in total points.

Jeff Planutis had a career day, finishing with 18 points to lead all scorers. Steve Cannady followed him with 16 points.

The Huskies turned the ball over 21 times – including 14 steals by Mercyhurst – which the Lakers were able to convert into 28 points. Mercyhurst turned the ball over just nine times.
