Field Hockey Drops Tough Senior Day Matchup to Bloomsburg

The Mercyhurst field hockey team took on Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon, ultimately losing the contest 5-1.

Before the game, Lizzy Laird, Alexandria Shumsky, Alexis Lovewell, Raylynn Chraston, and Libby Jones were honored as part of the team's Senior Day festivities.

Bloomsburg got out to an early lead, as Alicia Carr scored her team-high ninth goal of the season halfway through the first quarter. The Huskies added another goal seven minutes into the second quarter, but the Lakers cut the lead in half with a goal by Sarah Vosburgh. The goal was the second of the season for the junior from Rochester, New York.

The Huskies would add a goal in the third and two more in the final frame to walk away with a 5-1 victory.

Evelien Hulshof had two shots on goal for the Lakers. She was joined by Alexis Lovewell, Vosburgh, and Fenna Klok, who each had a shot on goal.

Jones started in goal for the Lakers and finished with seven saves. Kayla Desormeau finished off the final five minutes of the game, recording two saves of her own without allowing a goal.

The Lakers finish their season with a 1-16 record, 1-9 in conference play.
