Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team extended their point streak to seven as they defeated Seton Hill by a score of 3-0.
How it Happened
After back-and-forth play for the first 30 minutes the Lakers took the lead in the 33rd minute as Sidney Warden scored his 13th goal of the season and his seventh goal in his last three games. Dylan Sumner and Nic Münch picked up assists on the play.
Mercyhurst and the Griffins went into the half with the Lakers leading 8-2 in shots while Jonathan Gomes made two saves.
In the 48th minute, Sumner scored his sixth goal of the year while Warden picked up the assist as the Lakers took the 2-0 lead.
In the 65th minute Warden notched his 14th goal of the season to give the Lakers their three-goal lead. Tom Barry picked up his third assist of the season.
Mercyhurst held Seton Hill to just seven shots with only two being on goal. The Lakers generated 12 shots and seven on goal.
He's On-Fire
Warden has now scored multiple goals in four of his last five games including back-to-back hat-tricks against Slippery Rock and UPJ. He now has 14 goals and four assists this season and is tied for fifth in Division II for goals.
Playoff Push
The Lakers have earned a point in their last six PSAC West games dating back to Oct. 2 in a 6-0 win over UPJ. After the today, the Lakers have taken sole position of third place in the PSAC West and are just one point back of Seton Hill and three points back of Gannon while having a seven point lead over Cal for the final playoff spot.

Head Coach Ryan Osborne is happy with his team after the big win at home. "I was very happy with the way we played today, we came out with an intent to win and a real togetherness. We need to continue with this." Osborne knows each game gets harder and harder as playoffs become closer. "We are happy to win but are under no illusions of the challenge that lies ahead Saturday at Slippery Rock."

The Lakers have just three games remaining with two of them being on the road. Saturday the Lakers take on Slippery Rock on the road. Next Wednesday the Lakers head to the other Erie campus for a matchup with #16 Gannon. Mercyhurst closes out the season next Saturday at home against Cal (PA).
