Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Women's Soccer team hosted Gannon for a PSAC West contest on Saturday afternoon, the Golden Knights came out on top by a score of 3-1.
Gannon opened the scoring in the 25th minute and they took their lead into halftime as the Golden Knights were outshooting the Lakers 12-4.
Maddie Elbro made four saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The Golden Knights made their lead two in the 54th minute.
In the 60th minute the Lakers cut the Gannon lead in half as Amber Thomas picked up her fourth goal of the season as scored on a free kick from over 40 yards out.
Any chance of a comeback was ended as Gannon scored in the 87th minute to take their two-goal lead back.
Elbro ended the game with three saves as the Lakers were outshot 19-8 and 8-3 in shots on goal.
The Lakers look to bounce back on Wednesday as Slippery Rock made the trip to Erie. Mercyhurst the travels to UPJ on Saturday to take on the Mountain Cats.
