Football Travels to Edinboro for PSAC West Clash

EDINBORO, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team will make the short trip to Edinboro Saturday for a 12 p.m. kickoff against the Fighting Scots at Sox Harrison Stadium.

Keeping it Clean 
The Lakers are one of the least penalized teams in the PSAC. They rank second in the conference and 45th in the nation with just 6.0 penalties per game. The Lakers average the fewest penalty yards per game, 49.17, in the PSAC.

Punt, Pass and Kick 
Brian Alsobrooks has had a strong start kicking the football this season. He is 7-for-7 on field goals and is one of just six DII kickers that have yet to miss. He ranks 22nd in field goals per game. He averaged 37.4 yards per punt on the season the seventh best mark in the PSAC. Alsobrooks has also taken a few snaps at quarterback going 10-of-17 for 70 yards.

No Fly Zone 
The Lakers pass defense has been solid through six games. Mercyhurst ranks 20th in the nation in passing yards allowed with 164.8 per game. That is the third best mark in the PSAC. The Lakers are 37th in the nation in total defense giving up 305.2 yards per contest.

Piling Up the Tackles 
The linebacker duo of Jacob Holl and Thomas Zacharyasz have led the Mercyhurst defense. Zacharyasz is sixth in the PSAC with 8.7 tackles per game while Holl checks in right behind him at seventh with 8.3. The two combined for 20 total tackles on Saturday against Seton Hill.

Schaetzle's Final Season 
Marty Schaetzle announced that he would retire at the end of the season. In his 20th season, Schaetzle has led the Lakers in two conferences and one PSAC title. Assistant Head Coach Ryan Riemedio has been tabbed the next head coach of the Laker program.

Through the Air 
All six Laker touchdowns this season have come through the air. Mercyhurst has spread the ball with 17 different players recording a catch. Cameron Barmore, Jason Armstrong, Rylan Davison and Justin Hill all have 10 or more receptions. 

Scouting the Fighting Scots 
Isaac Bernard has made appeared in three games and went 19-of-29 against Slippery Rock last week. Anfre Williams leads the rushing attack with 218 yards. Thaddeus Standfield has 18 catches for 148 yards. Mike Watkins adds 11 catches for 140 yards and two scores. Saige Ley leds the team with 36 tackles, 2.5 for loss and one sack. Nick Cunningham has also topped 30 stops with 33 total tackles.
