ERIE, Pa. -- Gueorgui Feduolov ripped a sharp-angle shot into the top corner of the net with just 34 seconds left in overtime to lift the Mercyhurst men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over visiting No. 17 Robert Morris.
The Lakers held a 2-1 lead into the third, but the Colonials broke through on the power play with 9:33 left on a goal by Nick Lelonde. The Lakers killed off four other penalties in the third while goalie Hank Johnson made 17 third period saves to force overtime.
Austin Heidemann got the Lakers on the board early with his sixth goal of the year just 3:58 into the contest. Heidemann potted a Dante Sheriff feed into the yawning cage. Mercyhurst carried a 1-0 lead into the first break.
Robert Morris tied the game 3:20 into the second on a goal by Carmon Hebert. Carson Briere put the Lakers back ahead pounding home a rebound at the post to make it 2-1 after two.
Briere and Heidemann paced the Lakers offensively with a goal and an assist each. Sheriff, Joseph Maziarz and Owen Norton each picked up a helper.
Johnson picked up the win in net making 40 saves.
