SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The No. 17 Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team fell behind early and were never able to fight back as they fell to second-ranked Le Moyne College by a score of 19-2 on Sunday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins got on the board first as Nicole Delany scored on a feed from Sidney Hall. Then, at the 5:01 mark Gemma Addonizio slipped a shot past the reach of
Kaitlyn Lippert for the 2-0 edge. Delany made it 3-0 with an unassisted marker with 23:36 left. Mercyhurst appeared to had found their footing with 7:29 gone when
Brenna Fosco picked up her third goal of the campaign trimming the gap to 3-1. However, Jessica Meneilly, Erin McMullen, Addonizio, Hall, and Delany helped the host to close on a 7-0 charge to lead 10-1 at the break.
Le Moyne added onto their lead to begin the second half with Delany, Hall, Addonizio, and McMullen all scoring in the first six minutes of the frame to open the margin to 14-1.
Lacey Netti would set up
Torie Sullivan for her first of the season as she fired a shot past Hannah George. Brittney Pollack, Meneilly, Hall, Addonizio, and McMullen each tallied once more to result in the 19-2 final.
Mercyhurst was outshot 37-18 (27-12 on goal). Le Moyne held the edge in turnovers 13-21 and clears 18-19 to 11-18. Neither team was able to convert on a free-position shot.
Fosco, Netti, and Sullivan each recorded a solo point for Mercyhurst. Lippert posted eight saves.
Addonizio, Hall, and Delany all had four goals, while McMullen and Meneilly each buried three. George made ten stops in cage.

Mercyhurst will have their home opener on Thursday, March 5 when they host Lake Erie College at 4pm.
