Silvonen Earns Shutout, Knott Scores as Women's Ice Hockey Wins 1-0 over Lindenwood

Box Score MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team defeated Lindenwood 1-0 during College Hockey America action on Saturday.
 
Maggie Knott scored while Emma Nuutinen had an assist for Mercyhurst (15-9-4, 9-3-2).
 
During the first period, Knott took an interference penalty and came out of the box to find her on a breakaway with a pass from Nuutinen. She skated down the ice and went top shelf to give Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead and eventual victory.
 
Jenna Silvonen made 21 saves in net for Mercyhurst for her second shutout of the season while Annika Asplundh made 23 saves for Lindenwood (5-19-3, 3-11-0).
 
The Lakers were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Lions were 0-for-2.
 
Mercyhurst is back in action on Feb. 14-15 when they host Robert Morris at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Pucks drops at 3:05 p.m. on Friday and 2:05 p.m. on Saturday.
 
The first 100 fans to Friday's game will receive a free t-shirt sponsored by Erie Sports Now Fitness and Mercyhurst Athletics. Saturday's game is Pucks N' Paws with all dog ticket proceeds going to Because You Care.
