Women's Ice Hockey Defeats Syracuse 1-0, Undefeated on Home Ice

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team defeated Syracuse 1-0 during College Hockey America action on Saturday to end the home schedule undefeated on home ice with a 12-0-4 record.

It is only the second time in program history for a team to go undefeated on home ice.

Mercyhurst receives a first round bye in the CHA playoffs. 
 
Emma Nuutinen scored while Alexa Vasko and K.K. Thiessen had assists for Mercyhurst (18-9-5, 12-3-3 CHA).
 
After a scoreless first period, Nuutinen got the Lakers on the board with her 20th goal of the season. Vasko passed it up and Nuutinen staked through the Syracuse players and went top shelf. Thiessen also had an assist.
 
Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
 
Kennedy Blair made 25 saves in net for Mercyhurst to earn her third shutout of the season. Allison Small made 25 saves for Syracuse (12-18-2, 10-6-2 CHA).
 
Mercyhurst is back in action Feb. 28-29 when it travels to Penn State for the last regular season weekend series. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
