Men’s Hockey Skates to 1-1 Tie with Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with host Air Force Friday night at Cadet Ice Arena

Paul Maust got the Lakers on the board first burying a rebound off an Owen Norton shot with 5:13 left in the first period.

The Falcons answered late in the second on a Pierce Pluemer goal with 1:41 remaining.

The teams skated a scoreless third period and five-on-five overtime, but a Laker penalty carried over into the 3-on-3 stanza and Trevor Stone tucked a rebound in to give the Falcons the extra point in the Atlantic Hockey standings.

Garrett Metcalf answered the bell time and again making 43 saves on the night, the most he has made in a game this season.

Norton and Brendan Schneider picked up assists for the Lakers on the Maust tally. Michael Bevilacqua paced the Lakers with four shots on goal.

The Lakers and Falcons wrap up their weekend series on Saturday. Puck drop is slated for 5:05 p.m. MST.
