Women's Ice Hockey Downs Syracuse 6-2

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team downed Syracuse 6-2 during College Hockey America action on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
 
Summer Rae Dobson scored two goals and had one assist whil3 Maggie Knott and Emma Nuutinen had one goal and one assist. Michele Robillard and Rachel Marmen has one goal each. Sam Isbell scored two assists while Jordan Mortlock, Megan Korzack, Emily Pinto and Aubrey Cole had one assist each for Mercyhurst (17-9-5, 11-3-3).
 
Allie Olnowish and Jessica Digirolamo scored for Syracuse (12-17-2, 10-5-2).
 
Mercyhurst scored at 14:30 in the first period. Isbell passed it up to Nuutinen who took it behind the net and passed it out to Knott for a one-timer.
 
Syracuse tied the game up less than two minutes later.
 
Marmen gave Mercyhurst its lead back with two minutes left in the second period. Dobson slid it across to Korzack who dished it up to Marmen who put it in the back of the net.
 
During the second period, the Lakers scored two goals in five seconds to take a 4-1 lead. Dobson scored her first of the night unassisted before Nuutinen sent a rocket to the back of the net from Isbell.
 
Syracuse scored 7:53 into the third period to make it 4-2 but it wasn't enough as Mercyhurst scored two more goals to win 6-2.
 
Robillard tipped in Mortlocks shot with an assist from Knott before Dobson scored her second of the night with assists from Pinto and Cole. 
 
The Lakers went 0-for-1 on the power play while the Orange went 0-for-4.
 
Jenna Silvonen made 20 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Ady Cohen made 34 saves in net for Syracuse.
 
Both teams are back in action on Saturday at the MIC at 2:05 p.m. Come early to honor our six seniors, Maggie Knott, Sam Isbell, Céline Frappier. Claire Werynski, Michele Robillard and Emma Nuutinen.
