ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team skated to a 5-5 tie with Robert Morris during College Hockey America action on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Summer-Rae Dobson scored two goals and added an assist while
Emily Pinto had one goal and two assists.
Sam Isbell recorded one goal and one assist and
Alexa Vasko had the other Laker goal.
Maggie Knott picked up two assists while
K.K. Thiessen and
Jordan Mortlock had one assist each for Mercyhurst (16-9-5, 10-3-3).
Natalie Macuzzi had two goals while Lexi Templeman, Michaela Boyle and Anjelica Diffendal had one goal each for Robert Morris (16-10-4, 10-4-2).
Mercyhurst took a 3-0 led in the first period with goals from Vasko, Isbell and Dobson.
Three minutes into the game Vasko tipped in Knotts shot to get Mercyhurst on the board on the power play. Thiessen also had an assist.
Halfway through the first, Isbell found herself on a breakaway and put it in the back of the net. Dobson and Pinto had assists.
With 30 seconds left in the first period, Dobson tallied her first of the game with an assist from Pinto.
During the second period, Robert Morris scored two goals in 37 seconds to bring them within one.
Dobson then scored her second of the game, this time on the power play to make it 4-2.
Robert Morris scored with 51 seconds left in the second period to make it 4-3 going into the second intermission.
One minute and 52 seconds into the third period, Pinto scored to give Mercyhurst a 5-3 lead. Mortlock tallied an assist.
Robert Morris then scored two goals, one on a 5-on-3 to tie the game and ultimately end it in a 5-5 tie.
Jenna Silvonen made 29 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Raygan Kirk made two saves before Arielle DeSmet came in and made 28 saves for Robert Morris.
The Lakers were 2-for-4 on the power play while the Colonials were 1-for-6.
Mercyhurst is back in action on Feb. 21-22 when it hosts Syracuse at the MIC. Pucks drops at 6:05 p.m. on Friday and 2:05 p.m. on Saturday for senior day.
