ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team fell 4-1 to visiting Army West Point Saturday night in Atlantic Hockey action at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
The Black Knights took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after a Brett Abdelnuor tally with 1:20 left in the first.
Mercyhurst answered 11:07 into the second.
Carver Watson took a feed from
Joseph Maziarz and patiently picked a corner rifling the puck past Trevin Kozlowski.
Army responded just under a minute later with a goal from Eric Butte. Dominic Franco extended the lead 3-1 with a power play tally with 6:21 left in the second.
Franco would round out the scoring with an empty net tally with 1:46 to play.
James Anderson also picked up an assist on the Watson tally.
Garrett Metcalf took the loss in net making 35 saves.
Prior to the game, Mercyhurst honored the six members of the senior class.
Brendan Riley was honored with the Bill Smith Award which goes to the senior that most embodies Mercyhurst hockey on the ice, in the classroom and in the community.
The Lakers hit the road next weekend for a series with Air Force. Friday night's contest is set for a 7:05 MST start 9:05 PM EST.
