Men’s Hockey Falls to Army

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Army Friday night in Atlantic Hockey action at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. 

Jonny Lazarus gave the Lakers the lead with 17 seconds left in the first period when he banged home a rebound off a Justin Cmunt blast to put Mercyhurst up 1-0 at the first break. 
 

Army answered back with a power-play goal 2:10 into the second period. It sparked a four-goal period that put the Black Knights up 4-1 after two. 

Brendan Soucie capped the scoring 5:59 into the third. 

Carver Watson also picked up a helper on the Lazarus tally. James Anderson led the Lakers with four shots on goal. 

Matt Berkovitz led the Army offense with three helpers. Dominic Franco and Mason Kruger each scored a goal and picked up an assist. 

Garrett Metcalf took the loss between the pipes making 30 saves. Trevin Kozlowski picked up the win making 25 stops. 
 

The Lakers and Black Knights finish their season series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Mercyhurst will honor the six members of the senior class prior to the game. Tickets can be purchased here or at the Ice Center beginning 90 minutes prior to faceoff.
