Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team fell 7-2 in their series finale against host Holy Cross Saturday night in Atlantic Hockey action at the Hart Center.
The Lakers dug an early hole with the Crusaders getting on the board just 23 seconds into the contest. Holy Cross would score twice more in the opening frame to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
Dalton Skelly pushed the Holy Cross lead to 4-0 at the 2:42 mark of the second period. James Anderson got Mercyhurst on the board when his shot ricoccheted off a skate in front and into the net at 7:09 of the second to trim the lead to 4-1. The Crusaders struck once more in the second to take a 5-1 edge into the second break.
The lead was extended to lead just 57 seconds into the third with a tally by Neil Robinson. The Crusaders struck again at the 12:53 mark to push the lead to 7-1. Geourgui Feduolov got one back for the Lakers when he banged home a rebound at the side of the net at the 18:11 mark of the third to set the final.
Johnny Lazarus, Joseph Maziarz, and Khristian Acosta all picked up assists for Mercyhurst. Anderson and Justin Cmunt each recorded four shots on goal.
Garrett Metcalf took the loss in net making 23 saves and allowing three goals. Colin DeAugusine made 16 saves in relief.
The Lakers are back in action on Friday when they host Sacred Heart at 7:05 in the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Fans can get their tickets here or at the Ice Center beginning 90 minutes prior to puck drop.
