Women's Ice Hockey Ties Penn State 1-1 for Second Straight Game

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with Penn State during College Hockey America action on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
 
Emily Pinto scored while Summer-Rae Dobson and Maggie Knott tallied assists for Mercyhurst (12-8-4, 6-2-2). 
 
Katie Rankin scored for Penn State (9-9-6, 4-3-3).
 
Pinto scored her sixth goal of the season at 18:53 of the first period to give Mercyhurst a lead. Knott dished the puck towards the net and it was deflected by Dobson to Pinto who found the back of the net.
 
Penn State tied it up at eight minutes into the second period.
 
The game went to overtime and ended in a 1-1 tie.
 
The Lakers went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Nittany Lions finished 0-for-2.
 
Jenna Silvonen made 24 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Chantal Burke made 34 saves for Penn State.
 
The Lakers are back in action on Jan. 24-25 when they head to RIT. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
