Men’s Hockey Drops Decision to Robert Morris

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University men's hockey team dropped the first of a three-game series 4-1 to visiting Robert Morris Tuesday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. 

Mercyhurst got on the board first when Steven Ipri took a feed from Jonathan Bendorf and charged down the wing scoring on the forehand high blocker at the 3:31 mark of the first period. 




Robert Morris answered with 6:40 left in the first on a goal by Roman Kraemer.  

The Colonials struck twice in the second to take a 3-1 advantage to second intermission. Luke Lynch added an empty net goal in the final seconds to set the final. 

Ipri picked up his team-leading 17th point with his goal. Bendorf and Owen Norton each picked up an assist on the Ipri tally. 

Dalton Hunter paced the Lakers with five shots. Garrett Metcalf made 37 saves for the Lakers while taking the loss in net. 




Jacob Coleman paced the Colonials with a goal and an assist while Justin Kapelmster earned the win making 27 saves. 

The Lakers and Colonials are back at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the Ice Center 90 minutes prior to puck drop.
