Women's Ice Hockey Downed 8-3 at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team fell 8-3 at Syracuse during College Hockey America action on Friday.
 
Michele Robillard record one goal and two assists while Summer-Rae Dobson and Abigail Schauer scored the other Laker goals. Emma Nuutinen and Maggie Knott had single assists for Mercyhurst (11-8-2, 5-2-0 CHA).
 
Brynn Koocher, Savannah Rennie, Lindsay Eastwood, Victoria Klimek, Emma Polaski, Abby Moloughney, Lauren Bellefontaine and Kelli Rowswell scored for Syracuse (6-13-1, 5-1-1 CHA).
 
During the first period, Syracuse took an early 3-0 lead. The Orange got on the board at 6:46 with a goal from Koocher. Rennie then scored a little under 10 minutes later before Eastwood tallied a power play goal.
 
With 39 seconds left in the first period, Robillard scored her eighth goal of the season to get the Lakers on the board. Knott took the loose puck behind the net and passed it out to Nuutinen who tipped it over to Robillard for the one-timer.
 
During the second period, Syracuse added three more goals to extend its lead to 6-1.
 
Mercyhurst cut the lead to 6-2 when Robillard passed it up to Dobson and she skated it towards the net and found the top shelf.
 
During the third period, Syracuse added two more goals to make it 8-2.
 
Schauer then recorded her first collegiate goal to end the game 8-3. She crashed the net on a 2-on-1 with Robillard who dished the puck over for Schauer to find the back of the 
 
The Lakers were 0-for-5 on the power play while the Orange went 3-for-4.
 
Kennedy Blair made 10 saves in net before Jenna Silvonen came in and made 12 saves and then Leah Klassen made five saves for Mercyhurst. Ady Cohen made 23 saves in net for Syracuse.
 
Both teams are back in action Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
