Laker Baseball Wins Big Over Notre Dame College (OH.), 16-5.

ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Baseball Team downed Notre Dame (OH.) on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup, 16-5.

Four different Lakers would have a multiple hit day including Matthew Gibson who led Mercyhurst with four hits and went 4-5 on the day. Alex O'Donnell, Jack Elliott and Matthew Schneider each had two hits, out of the teams 14.

O'Donnell led the Lakers with 5 RBI with four of them coming off a grand slam early in the game.

This would increase the MU lead to five, but the runs wouldn't stop there.  Matthew Gibson kept the inning going with a triple down the right field line scoring Dominic Cecere and Matthew Schneider.

Elliott would keep the bats rolling in the third with a double to left field scoring Mitchell from first.  The Falcons wouldn't have an answer against Cwik in the fourth going three up, three down. The Lakers would tally six more runs in the fourth off of a few walks and Gibson and O'Donnell single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Schneider would add an exclamation point with another homer making the score 16-1.  Notre Dame (OH.) (15-17) would manage to score four runs towards the end of the game but it wouldn't be enough giving Mercyhurst (18-5) its 18th win of the season.

Chad Cwik was your winning pitcher going five innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts and no earned runs.
For the Falcons, losing pitcher was Spurgeon going two innings, allowing six hits and seven earned runs.

NEXT UP: The Lakers will go back to conference play as they will travel to Seton Hill on Friday for a PSAC doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM
