ERIE, Pa.—The Mercyhurst baseball team split with Indiana (Pa.) today taking the weekend PSAC series, 3-1.
Game One (W, 10-3):
Tyler Garbee took the mound in game one for the Lakers and only allowed four hits. After the first inning homer, Garbee dialed in, only allowing one hit for the next three innings. On the day, Garbee allowed three earned runs and recorded six strikeouts on five innings pitched.
The Lakers offense came to play, and responded to the IUP homer in the top of the first, putting up five runs of their own.
During the five run response,
Matthew Schneider scored
Jack Elliott of an RBI double knotting the game at one all.Â
Hunter Snyder would then single and score Schneider as well.
In the second and third inning, both Schneider and
Josh Surowiec homered. Schneider's was a two RBI blast. Then, after an Elliott sac fly scoring Robinson, the Mercyhurst lead was pushed, 9-1.
Matthew Gibson added more insurance in the fourth also homering, making the score 10-1. IUP struck back with a two-run homer of its own but wouldn't score any more, giving MU the game one victory, 10-3.

Game Two (L, 8-3):
IUP (8-19)  responded to the loss in game one and quickly got on the board after a first pitch homer. The Crimson Hawks would score six more in the first inning to take an early 7-0 lead. MU would score two in the bottom of the first to cut the deficit, 7-2.
After the first
Russell Lamovec zoned in striking out the side in the top of the second and went one, two, three in the third. Unfortunately, Mercyhurst (17-5) couldn't capitalize and would only score one more run in the game, losing, 8-3.
Losing pitcher was Lakers own
Russell Lamovec, going 3.2 innings, allowing nine hits, six earned runs and recorded five strikeouts.
Tyler Adams got the win for IUP, going 2.0 innings, allowing two earned runs and didn't allow any hits.Â
