ERIE, Pa. --
Caleb Kueber tied a Mercyhurst single-game record with eight goals as the eighth-ranked Laker men's lacrosse team defeated Roberts Wesleyan, 19-6, in non-conference action on Wednesday at Tullio Field.
Kueber tied the record held by Bryon Lindner, who had eight goals in a 17-9 win at Molloy on Apr. 22, 2007.
KEY NUMBERS
- Kueber was also the Lakers' leading point-getter as he added two assists to his eight goals, finishing with 10 points.
- Jarrett Cook tallied two goals while single goals were recorded by Devin Pipher, Benjamin Smith-Wilcox, Dom Perna, Dan Kritkausky, Sam Crusha, Jacob Emerson, Patrick Sullivan, Peyton Manko and Nicholas Mabe.
- Pipher added two assists while Smith-Wilcox, Nathan Grenon, Brandon May, Timothy McMullen and Tommy Angelicola contributed single helpers.
- May and Angelicola caused three turnovers each.
- Justin Sale picked up four groundballs.
- Winning goalie Hunter Emerson compiled six saves and four groundballs before Jason Pawlak made three saves in a relief effort.
GAME SUMMARY
- The visiting Redhawks built an early 3-2 edge in the first quarter before Mercyhurst evened the score at 3-all on Kueber's goal with five seconds remaining in the opening period.
- Kueber's late first-quarter goal was the beginning of a larger 5-0 run that carried into the second. Kueber had three goals during that stretch, which left the Lakers with a 7-3 advantage.
- Mercyhurst took an 8-4 lead into halftime, ending the second quarter with a goal by Cook.
- Cook's goal was followed by 10 more as MU went on an 11-goal run to build a commanding 18-4 lead with 7:07 remaining in the fourth quarter.

- The Lakers (11-3, 5-1) will return to action on Thursday, May 2, when they play in the GMAC Tournament finals. MU will be the two-seed and will play either Lake Erie or Davis & Elkins. The conference tournament will take place at top-seed Seton Hill.
