Duszak Selected To AHCA All-America Second Team

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Mercyhurst men's ice hockey player Joseph Duszak was named to the CCM/AHCA All-America Second Team, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association during the "Friday Night at the Frozen Four" awards event. With the honor, Duszak becomes Mercyhurst's first NCAA Division I All-American.

Duszak raked in several postseason awards in 2018-19. The All-Atlantic Hockey First Team honoree was named AHA Player of the Year and AHA Defenseman of the Year. A junior, Duszak was also a Hobey Baker Award Top 10 finalist.

Duszak led the Lakers with 16 goals, 31 assists and 47 points. Duszak finished the season with a +8 plus/minus rating and 32 blocked shots in the defensive zone. He is ranked second in the nation with 1.27 points per game as a defenseman, fifth in assists per game (0.84) and sixth in the nation in points per game.

In Atlantic Hockey, Duszak led all conference defenseman in points. Among all players, he tied for the league lead in points and assists while tying for sixth in goals.

Following Mercyhurst's season, Duszak elected to sign a two-year future entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He then reported to the Leafs' AHL-affiliate Toronto Marlies.
