ERIE, Pa. -- The 11th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Molloy, 18-5, in its home opener on Saturday at Tullio Field.
Caleb Kueber and
Benjamin Smith-Wilcox led the way with six-point games. Kueber totaled five goals and one assist while Smith-Wilcox contributed three goals and three assists.'
Also for MU (2-2),
Devin Pipher had one goal and four assists.
Sam Crusha scored two goals.
Other goal scorers for the Lakers included
Haden Bates,
Patrick Sullivan,
Dom Perna,
Zach Lorenz,
Nicholas Mabe,
Nicholas Bartone and
Jacob Emerson.
Jarrett Cook made two assists. Single assists were credited Bates, Sullivan and
James Rettinger.
Bates and Rettinger picked up five groundballs.
Hunter Emerson was the winning goalie with eight saves.
Jason Pawlak had five stops in relief.
The Lakers scored the first five goals of the contest and never trailed.
Molloy goals were scored by Travis Cooksey, Jack Egan, Robert Lopez, Jeff Hauser and Brian Ford.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 16, when Chestnut Hill visits for a 11 a.m. start.
