Box Score ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team finished its regular season with an 85-62 win over Edinboro on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Nelson Maxwell scored 18 points and was one of four Lakers in double-figures.
Trystan Pratapas added 12 points while
Jason Massey and
Derrick Ellis Jr. put in 10 points apiece.
Ellis also had eight assists whilie leading rebounder
Patrick Smith grabbed 12 boards.
Trey Staunch led the visiting Fighting Scots (9-17, 6-15) with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Mercyhurst took a 38-29 lead into halftime, getting six points each from Ellis, Massey and Pratapas in the opening period.
A 3-pointer by Smith and then a trey by Maxwell pushed MU's advantage to 45-29 early in the second half. The Laker lead held in double-figures the rest of the way.
Mercyhurst held a 44-37 rebounding edge and shot 32 of 69 from the field (46.4 percent) while Edinboro was 20 of 61 (32.8).
The Lakers (20-6, 15-6) will host Seton Hill in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament. Mercyhurst is the PSAC West Division three-seed while SHU is the West six-seed. The contest will take place on Monday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased
