ERIE, Pa. –
Sarah Hine scored twice while
Kennedy Blair recorded a shutout as the Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology 4-0 during College Hockey America action on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Sam Isbell and
Samantha Fieseler scored the Lakers other goals.
Michele Robillard recorded three assists while
Maggie Knott,
Summer-Rae Dobson,
Rachel Marmen and Hine had single assists for Mercyhurst (14-13-5, 11-6-2).
Blair was perfect in net with 19 saves.
After a scoreless first period, Isbell got the Lakers on the board halfway through the second period. Knott had the lone assist.
During the third period, Hine scored two goals to give Mercyhurst a 3-0 lead. Robillard tallied two assists while Dobson and Marmen had the other assists.
With 2:25 left in the third period, Fieseler converted on the 5-on-3 power play to give Mercyhurst a 4-0 win. Hine and Robillard picked up assists.
The Lakers went 1-for-4 on the power play while the Tigers were 0-for-3.
Terra Lanteigne made 25 saves in net before Jenna de Jonge made 12 saves in a relief effort for RIT (12-16-5, 8-10-1).
Both teams are back in action on Saturday the MIC at 1:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
