MU fell behind 1-0 on Haider's goal early in the first period before taking a 2-1 advantage on scores by Hunter and Barach. McDougall and Ipri assisted Hunter before Best and Whittaker assisted Barach.

After a scoreless second period, Maruya had a shorthanded goal to even the contest at 2-2 in the third.

Best scored on the power play with 1:58 to go, getting assists from Whittaker and Duszak to give the Lakers a 3-2 edge before Evancho equalized with 1:14 remaining to force overtime.

MacAfee's goal occurred with 1.7 seconds left in extra-time.
