Men’s Hockey Downed 3-2 by RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team fell 3-2 to host RIT Saturday night in Atlantic Hockey action.

The Lakers fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but Khristian Acosta sprung Gueorgui Feduolov for a breakaway goal with 4:05 left in the first to trim the RIT lead to 2-1 at the first intermission.

Mercyhurst would pull even in the second when Joseph Maziarz notched a power play tally at the 10:49 mark of the second.

Will Caverley scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers with 2:33 left in the second. The Lakers applied pressure in the third, but couldn't find the back of the net putting 12 shots on goal in the final period.

Colin DeAugustine made 37 saves and took the loss in net for the Lakers. Acosta and Feduolov each picked up two points on the night.

The Lakers return to action on Jan. 3 when they travel to Holy Cross for a 7:05 p.m. faceoff.
