ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team took down St. Cloud, 4-1, during non-conference action on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Summer-Rae Dobson scored a goal and tallied an assist while the other Laker goals were picked up by
K.K. Thiessen,
Maggie Knott and
Sarah Nelles.
Emily Pinto had two assists while single assists were earned by
Jordan Mortlock,
Alexa Vasko,
Sam Isbell,
Alexandria Weiss and
Liliane Perreault.
Hallie Theodosopoulos scored for St. Cloud (4-13-1).
Three minutes into the first period, Dobson scored her ninth goal of the season to get Mercyhurst (11-5-1) on the board first early. Mortlock passed it up to Perreault who dished it over to Dobosn for the tip in.
Less than three minutes later, Thiessen scored her first goal of the season with assists from Vasko and Perreault to make it 2-0 Lakers.
Late in the first period, Theodosopoulos scored for St. Cloud to make it 2-1.
After a scoreless second period, Knott extended the Lakers lead to 3-1 at 15:27 of the third period. She had help from Pinto and Dobson.
Nelles scored the empty net goal to end the game 4-1 Mercyhurst. Isbell and Weiss tallied assists.
Kennedy Blair made 17 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Emma Polusny made 25 saves in net for St. Cloud.
The Lakers were 0-for-7 on the power play while the Huskies went 0-for-2.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. Stick around to skate with the Lakers and Santa after the game. There will be hot chocolate and pizza provided.
