ERIE, Pa. –
Alyssa Otto scored a hat trick while
Vilde Wold made three saves as the Mercyhurst women's soccer team defeated Indiana Pa 5-0 on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
The Lakers clinched a PSAC Tournament berth with the win.
Maya Bauer and
Cristy Senskey scored the other Laker goals while Bauer also tallied two assists.
Bauer got the Lakers on the board first during the fifth minute of action as she beat IUP goaltender Madeline Smakulski to the bottom right corner of the net.
Eight minutes later, Otto scored her first goal of the game as she took the ball down the field and put it in the net over Smakulski head.
During the 30th minute of action Senskey extended the Lakers lead to 3-0 with help from Bauer.
To end of the first half, Otto scored her second of the game to make it 4-0. Bauer passed it over to Otto who tapped it to the back of the net.
During the second half, Otto finished off her hat trick as she made her way through the defense and went to the bottom left corner of the net during the 61st minute.
Wold earned her tenth shut out of the season.
Smakulski made one save in net while Maria Tunney made two saves for IUP.
Mercyhurst held an 8-3 shots on goal advantage and 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Lakers are back in action on Nov. 9 when they travel to Cal. Pa. at 1:00 p.m.
