LEWISTOWN, N.Y. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team fell 3-1 to host Niagara Saturday night at Dwyer Arena in Atlantic Hockey action.
Ben Sokay started the scoring at the 12:22 mark of the first period to put Niagara up 1-0.
Khristian Acosta leveled the score 1-1 with his first collegiate goal with 11:49 left in the second period. Steven Ipri picked up the helper on the Acosta tally.
The score remained knotted at one until Alex Truscott scored off to give the Purple Eagles a 2-1 advantage with 5:15 to play. Jack Billings added an insurance tally with an empty net goal to set the final.
Garrett Metcalf took the loss between the pipes making 27 saves.
The Lakers are back in action with a home and home series with Robert Morris Friday and Saturday. Mercyhurst will host the Colonials on Friday at 7:05 p.m. inside the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Fans can still purchase tickets for Friday night's contest by clicking here.
