ERIE, Pa. - After a convincing win over Division III D'Youville last Friday night by a score of 115-60 the Mercyhurst men's basketball faces a much stiffer challenge in No.18 Daemen College on Thursday night at the Lumsden Gymnasium in Amherst, New York.

Scouting the Lakers (1-0, 0-0 PSAC):
Against D'Youville, Mercyhurst shot 52.5% from the floor, 36.4% outside the arc, and just shy of 80% on the foul line. The Lakers offense was led by six players in double-figures led by 21 points each from Danny Ogele and
Cameron Gross. Gross finished with a double-double by also ripping down 10 boards.
Nicholas Lang added 15 along with grabbing eight rebounds.
Joel Ufele chipped in 13 points and went a perfect 5-5 at the charity stripe.
Zach McIntire and
Andrew Seager rounded out the double-digit scorers as each of them dropped 10. The bench was key for Mercyhurst accounting for 58 points. They were also dominate inside pouring in 60 points in the painted area. The Lakers controled the glass as well hauling in 57 rebounds to the Spartans 22.
Scouting the Wildcats (3-1, 0-0 Mountain East):
Daemen enters play with a record of 3-1 and is currently riding a three-game winning streak after suffering a setback in their season opener against defending champion Northwest Missouri State by a score of 85-65. The Wildcats are averaging 77 points per game, shooting 49.1% from the field, 38.1% at the three-point line, and 74.3 at the line. If Mercyhurst wants to win this game their first task will be stopping Andrew Sischo who averages a double-double with 25 ppg and 15.8 rpg. At the defensive end of the floor he has already blocked eleven shots. Jeff Redband also is a double-digit scorer with 12.5 points per game, while Breon Harris chips in 9.7 points and has totaled 13 assists.
