ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with California (Pa.) during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
Connor Wilkinson and
Henri Tophoven scored while
Hady Sarr picked up an assist for Mercyhurst (3-2-2, 2-0-1).
Nine minutes into the game, Wilkinson scored to get the Lakers on the board first. Sarr dribbled it around the defense and passed it over to Wikinson who was wide open for the two touch.
Cal. Pa came back with two goals in the first half to make it 2-1 Vulcans. Abdulla Nuredini and Eli Mitchell scored the two goals.
During the 60th minute, Tophoven tied the game at 2-2, after a scramble in the box.
Martin Jarc made three saves in net for Mercyhurst while Joseph Valeriano made nine saves for Cal. Pa.
Mercyhurst held a 11-5 shots on goal advantage and 10-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Lakers are back in action on Oct. 15 when they travel to Salem for a 3:00 p.m. game.
